Watch a little of Minnesota

Day 3: South Dakota to Minnesota

IMG_1410 Stitch We started out the day by visiting Mount Rushmore.  Last time I visited this National Park, I remember only seeing the mountain from afar.  However, since then they have added walkways that allow you to go all the way up to the base of the mountain, and look up close at the faces.  Other than that, the trip was fairly boring as South Dakota is nothing but flat, and seemed to stretch on forever.

Now we are in Minneapolis, Minnesota and we will be spending the day visiting the area, including the Mall of America.

I have no idea what this is.  When we drove into Minneapolis last night, there were what appears to be nine spot-lights forming a weird circle in the clouds.  I had to use ISO 12,000 to get this photo from a moving car, so forgive the weird coloring.

Too… tired… to… type…

I’ll blog all about today, tomorrow.  Sufficed it to say, we made it to our Minnesota destination.

Somewhere in South Dakota

I took this picture on my phone and sent it directly to my blog.  Problem is that at this point (in editing the post) I cannot remember where exactly it was, other than somewhere in the middle of South Dakota.

Day 2: South Dakota

We had a late start today, because we wanted to spend a little more time with my oldest brother Jim.  We had a nice early lunch with him, then set off to South Dakota.  We had first intended to just shoot off down the Interstate, but shortly before hitting Wyoming, we discovered an alternate route that should have cut an entire hour off the trip.  However halfway though the shortcut, we hit road construction which re-routed us again, and the short cut ended up being a long cut.  So we eventually made to it Rapid City.  Tomorrow we will visit Mount Rushmore in the morning, and then keep movin on to Minnesota.

Miles driven at this point: 1,110

Our destination for the day.

Day One (officially)

Yes, I realize that we left Sandpoint several days ago, but that was more for rest and relaxation with my parents in Pullman.  We spent a few very welcome, and relaxing days there visiting, as well as driving down to Lewiston to visit Scott as well.

So now that we are all rested up, we began the long trip to NY this morning and completed the first nine hours of the trek when we arrived in Billings, MT.

Now for those of you who know us well, already know that Billings is the old stomping grounds for both Kristie and I.  Billings is where she grew up, where we met, got married, and also where Timothy was born.  Below are a few pics that I took on today’s trip.IMG_1277

Day one of the move. We are first traveling to Pullman, Wa to see family before heading east. The house is empty, and the truck should be on it's way.
